Biology

At Willowbrook Wildlife Center you can see a variety of animals and plants currently, (or originally) native to DuPage County. Animals as common as Raccoons and Opossums and as amazing (and beneficial) as Turkey Vultures. On the natural trail you can see wild animals interacting with their environment. A Great Blue Heron might be stalking fish and frogs in the marsh pond or a Tree Swallow could be seen snatching insects right out of the air. Bees are busy gathering nectar and pollinating Purple Cone Flowers and Black Eyed Susans on the Prairie mound. Our newest educational area offers ideas on native plants that attract butterflies and hummingbirds and ways to landscape your yard to attract wildlife.
